Its one of the best photos I have seen...did you use a high shutter speed to capture the bird in a stagnant pose ? Super photo !
Yes, the shot was taken about an hour before sunset. Lens was a 300mm f/4.0 IS stopped down to f/4.5, ISO 1600, 1/2500 sec.It was great fun waiting for the bird to come close enough and hover just the right amount of time to capture the shot I wanted.
